Nova Hawks U14s rounded out their season in style with a Minton Cup final against league champions Shifnal Harriers.
A hard fought game saw the Harriers take the title with a 4-1 victory at Bridgnorth’s Crown Meadow, on Sunday.
Despite an early setback the sides went into the half time break at 2-1 to Shifnal thanks to a cracking goal from Nova captain, Oliver Howells, built on a fantastically worked set piece from an indirect free kick.
The Hawks remained hopeful of upsetting the odds right to the end of the game, hitting the woodwork on two occasions, but it wasn’t to be.
Manager Neil Carrick said: “This team has continued to go from strength to strength. In what was our 25th game of a long season, we performed well and the 4-1 scoreline does not really reflect the game and effort the boys put in. They were respectful in defeat and made us proud on the day. We look forward to further improvement next season.”
