Donations made at Nova United’s ever-popular Football Festival have been presented to Harper Adams University’s Student Charity, which supports a host of good causes.
The festival is always a popular and well-supported event and this year was no exception.
Dozens of teams, along with hundreds of players, coaches and all of their families turned out again for this year’s tournament, in May.
The tournament raises much needed funds to support the club in providing the opportunity for hundreds of young people to play football throughout the year, but this time it was also an opportunity to raise funds for another good cause.
Donations amounting to £550 allowed Nova United to present a cheque for that figure to the Harper Adams University Student Charity, RAG (Raise And Give).
It was done as a ‘thank you’ for the university making its astro turf facility available to some of the younger Nova teams to allow them to continue training through the worst of the winter weather.
The RAG society will be donating the money to the four charities they’re raising funds for this year: Yellow Wellies, Alzheimer’s Society, MS Society and Severn Hospice.
Nova United chairman, Ted Bowen, said: “Having the use of the all-weather pitches at Harper Adams University is a real bonus for our younger teams when the weather is at its coldest. It’s good to be able to give something back in recognition of that generous support. It’s good for the community all round.”
