In March our vice chair, Ted Bowen, and committee member and U16 manager, Matt Tomkinson, represented Nova United at special event in the town. Here’s Ted’s report:
Myself and Matt attended the Newport Town Council awards evening on Wednesday 2nd March.
Nova United Junior Football Club received a second place award for Team of the Year and received a Certificate of Appreciation from the town.
The criteria: Newport people were urged to nominate their community heroes and others who they feel are worthy of a special award for their achievements.
The awards are in recognition for service to the Community in 2015. For the Team of the Year, nominations could include, sporting teams, musical groups, choirs, fundraising committees or other community focused groups and were not necessarily restricted to voluntary groups.
It is good to see that our football club is recognised within the community and it is very rewarding to all the volunteer helpers and coaches at Nova who provide their time to promote grass roots junior football.
