Club history

In 1975 Billy Bowering started Nova on the fields opposite the site of Audco, Newport’s biggest employer at the time. The club has flourished ever since, expanding onto the Shuker Fields pitches as the club grew in size.

Newport boasts some notable young players who have gone on into professional football, including most recently England U18 and Shrewsbury Town player, Callum Burton, as well as Paul Bracewell (England, Everton and Sunderland), David Johnson (Manchester United, Ipswich Town and Nottingham Forest) and Adam Proudlock who played for Nova before his career with Wolverhampton Wanderers, Sheffield Wednesday and Ipswich Town.

We have enjoyed many successes in league and cup competitions at all age levels and we are proud to regularly win Fair Play Awards.
